Troubleshooting: Update DNS Records for Custom Email Domain

If you're using the Email Domain feature in Address Validator, you may need to update your DNS settings to ensure emails continue sending from your domain.

The Email Domain setting allows Address Validator to send email notifications (such as invalid address alerts) using your own domain instead of our default system address.

This helps:

  • Reduce customer confusion

  • Improve email deliverability

  • Create a more seamless brand experience

However, to keep this working properly, your domain must meet updated email sender requirements.

Where to find this setting

To confirm you're using this feature:

  1. Go to Address Validator

  2. Click Post Checkout Updates

  3. Select Email Notifications

  4. Locate the Email Domain setting

Action required

To continue sending emails from your domain, you must add two DNS records at your domain host.

Required DNS records

Replace subdomain.domain.com with your chosen MAIL FROM subdomain.

Record Type

Name / Host

Value

MX

subdomain.domain.com

10 feedback-smtp.us-west-2.amazonses.com

TXT

subdomain.domain.com

v=spf1 include:amazonses.com ~all

What happens if you don’t update your DNS?

If these records are not added:

  • Emails will no longer be sent from your domain

  • Messages will fall back to our default sending address

  • Deliverability and customer trust may be affected

How to update your DNS

You can update your DNS records through your domain provider. Below are guides for common providers:
