Post-checkout address validation can occur on the "Thank You" page or the "Order Status" page. This means customers can fix their address even after completing the order.
For express payment methods like Apple Pay or PayPal, the shipping address is entered directly through these services bypassing the 1st step of checkout where validation takes place. Therefore, we can only verify these addresses after the checkout process.

Additionally, if you have email notifications enabled, customers can update their address post-checkout. Also, customers might visit the order status page long after the purchase. Because of this, it's essential to adjust the time window for address modifications according to your needs.
Why Control the Time?
Accuracy for Third-Party Logistics (3PL): If you use a 3PL or logistics software, setting a shorter time frame ensures these systems receive the updated address promptly, preventing delivery issues.
Express Services: For services like food delivery, a shorter update window (2-5 minutes) is crucial to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
Traditional Stores: For other types of services and products, you can allow a longer window for updates, giving customers more flexibility.
Here's how to adjust the time window:
Go to the App Dashboard.
Navigate to Address Prompts.
Select Advanced Options.
Adjust the time under How much time does the customer have to update the order after the checkout is complete?
By customizing this setting, you can better manage post-checkout address changes to suit your business operations.
Keep in mind that non-Shopify Plus users can only validate addresses post-checkout. (Location of Address Prompts)
