As eCommerce expands globally, it’s more important than ever to provide a seamless customer experience in multiple languages. To help merchants who ship internationally or operate in non-English-speaking countries, we’ve introduced Multi-Language Support for Address Validator.

With this new feature, you can ensure that your customers receive validation prompts in their preferred language, improving clarity and reducing the chances of delivery errors.

Supported Languages

We now support multiple languages. Please keep in mind we only provide out-of-the-box translations for the following languages:

  • English

  • Spanish

  • Italian

  • French

  • Portuguese

  • German

For any other languages you have the option to review and customize the prompts under the "Translate Languages" section. This flexibility ensures that your store’s messaging is not only accurate but also consistent with your brand's tone and style.

  • New Customers: English will be the default language for all new merchants.

  • Existing Customers: If you're an existing user of Address Validator, you’ll need to add the new language(s) and then select a default language in the settings.

This ensures a smooth transition for existing users while giving everyone access to multi-language capabilities.

Benefits of Multi-Language Support

  1. Enhanced Customer Experience: Providing prompts in the customer’s native language reduces confusion, helping ensure that address issues are easily understood and corrected.

  2. Expand International Sales: If you’re selling to multiple regions, language barriers can create unnecessary friction. By enabling multi-language support, you can serve a wider audience without compromising on accuracy.

  3. Quick Setup and Customization: With our pre-translated prompts, getting started is easy. However, if your store has specific language needs, you can adjust the prompts to better suit your messaging.

How to Enable Multi-Language Support

Enabling multi-language support for Address Validator is simple. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Set your store’s default language:

    • Navigate to Shopify > Address Validator > Language Management > Default Store Language.

    • Select the primary language your store will use.

(When you set the default language, it syncs with other pages on the admin panel. Changing the default language will automatically update the text on other admin pages. Likewise, if you edit texts on any other admin pages, it will update the default language text.)

  2. Enable additional languages for international customers:

    • Go to Shopify > Address Validator > Language Management > Manage Additional Languages.

    • Select from the list of supported languages.

    • Customize any prompts if needed under the "Translate Languages" section.

This process allows you to cater to customers in their preferred language with ease.

Comparing Checkouts: Same Address, Different Translations

Here’s an example of how Address Validator handles the same address in different languages:

Language

Prompt for Invalid Address

English

"The address you entered seems incorrect. Please double-check it."

Spanish

"La dirección que ingresaste parece incorrecta. Por favor, revísala."

French

"L'adresse que vous avez saisie semble incorrecte. Veuillez la vérifier."

This consistency ensures that no matter where your customers are located, they receive clear and actionable messages in their preferred language, helping to reduce failed deliveries and improve overall satisfaction.

Conclusion

The new Multi-Language Support feature in Address Validator is a powerful tool for stores that sell internationally or operate in regions where English isn’t the primary language. By enabling these settings, you can provide a smoother, more personalized customer experience, helping to reduce failed deliveries and cart abandonment.

This feature is a must for any merchant selling internationally, making your operations more efficient while enhancing customer satisfaction.
